Marseille, France

A selection of pictures from Marseille. Reflections at the Vieux-Port, strong shadows, and views of the coast as the light changes.

People walking beneath the mirrored canopy at Marseille’s Vieux-Port in black and white

On the vieux port of Marseille, this huge mirror called “l’ombrelle” was installed a couple of years ago. Using an ND filter, people look like shadows at the foreground, but their reflections in the mirror are less blurry.

Cathedrale de la Major, with beautiful sunset light.

Notre-Dame de la Garde rising above a wooded hill beneath a blue sky

Notre Dame de la Garde, or “bonne mere”.

Lattice shadows falling across a terrace beside a cafe

Mucem museum, I like the shade and asymetry effect it gives.

An overhead view of a pedestrian and a long shadow on paving stones

Playing with the mirror “l’ombrelle” on the vieux port and this man’s shadow.

Sunbathers along a rocky waterfront beside turquoise water

Plage des catalans and the famous “cercle des nageurs” where profesional swimming atheletes train. I like the vibrant colors on that summer day.

Iles du Frioul at sunset, old sailing boat with warm colors.
